LOW POWER DIGITAL AC SYSTEMS with Intelligent Datlog™ Technology


The LPAC range is designed to provide Emergency Lighting (1 to 3 hours as required) at 230VAC (or selected voltage) at 50Hz and includes the latest version of the acclaimed intelligent Datlog™ system monitoring and data logging software.

The LPAC range is specifically designed as the safe option (AC output under emergency conditions), for installations requiring up to 50, 8-watt luminaires to be run across four output circuits. When used in conjunction with PAL™ it can provide the full range of monitoring and control demanded by the most stringent operational conditions.

Provision has been made for sub-circuit monitoring together with a Fire Test input, to cause the Unit to switchover to it's own Output power (Quasi square wave).

Datlog™ features
Datlog™ will automatically monitor the load and the battery at a specified time and date if required. Monthly, daily or weekly testing if required ensures that all luminaires and the battery are correctly functioning. The test results and alarms are stored in an internal non-volatile memory. With an (optional) internal or external printer, the events log can be printed out for permanent record keeping.

Datlog™ also monitors the battery path for continuity and provides temperature compensation and deep discharge protection to ensure maximum life from the batteries. The user-interface is easy to use with scroll buttons to read all operational parameters (available in different languages). Additionally standard alarm outputs allow integration into most building management systems.

It should be noted that in order to comply with EN60598.2-22, it is essential that luminaires must not use glow starters, therefore electronic ballasts or electronic starters are required.

Maintained and Non-maintained loads
  • There are 4 separate load lines that can be configured as Maintained (if power is applied to the incoming terminal on that line) or Non-Maintained (if the incoming power terminal is left open).

  • Each load line can feed 100% of the rated load - in other words you can put all the load on to one line if required or spread it out amongst the 4 load lines to suit. When earth-leakage detection is required, the load neutral's must be connected to the neutral terminals alongside the Output Lines.

    The Load terminals are rated to accommodate maximum 2.5 mm cable. 3-core cables should be supplied with the earth connected to the terminal rail provided.

Display and monitors

Dot Matrix display - 2 line x 16 character - displaying:
The unit will normally display the Current Time on the upper display line and '**SYSTEM OK**' on the lower line. Pressing either scroll buttons will take you through the following displays:

Version - showing the current software version installed
Load - shows the total load current (VA) through the unit - note this figure may be different between Mains & Inverter operation.
Battery Voltage - displays 27.4VDC ±0.2V when the battery is fully charged.
Discharge Current - displays the DC current from the battery during a discharge.
Charge Current - indicates the charging current to the battery. Normally indicates 0 or 1 ampere when the battery is fully charged.
Mains Voltage - displays the Charger supply voltage to the unit.
Inverter Voltage - shows the True RMS voltage to the load. During a Mains Failure - the display indicates zero.
Test Date** - if the Automatic Battery test function has been selected during the 'Set-up Routine', this information will be available, otherwise the display will indicate the LPAC Size. The Test Date will show the day of the week on which the test is to be performed.
Test Time** - shows the time when the Automatic Battery Test function is required to be started. Note: The test will start within one minute of the selected time and last for 10 minutes.
LPAC Size - showing the size of the unit, refer to tables for unit loading and limits.
Battery Size - the capacity of the battery is shown - it must match the actual batteries fitted in order to provide proper over-charging protection to the battery.
Date/Month/Year/Day - shows the current time accuracy >1 minute per month at 20°C
** - These parameters are only displayed if Autotest has been enabled.

Specifications

Charger:
Voltage: 230V +10% -6%, 50Hz AC, other inputs are available; Frequency: 50Hz +/- 2%; Battery: 24VDC; LV alarm: 22VDC; LV cut-off: 19VDC; Temperature compensation.

Inverter:
Static voltage regulation: ± 2% true RMS, 90% of nominal voltage at minimum DC Dynamic regulation: maximum 10% recovering to nominal in <5 seconds Wave form: quasi-sine (modulated square), optional sine-wave output Mains overload alarm: 105% of VA rating Inv. overload regulates to: 120% VA rating and 105% watts rating (provided inverter volts are greater than 150VAC)

Changeover:
Changeover voltages: Within the parameters of BS764 Mains to inverter: Between 5 and 20milliseconds after mains failure is detected. Nature of transfer is determined by the "soft start" and "time delay" settings programmed. Inverter to mains: Inverter phase-locks with the mains and after checking transfers load to mains, maximum break is 5ms.

Outputs:

  • Four separate output circuits that can be configured as maintained or non-maintained at the time of installation, each individually fused at 5 amps.
  • Standard Unit comes with quasi-sine wave output, optionally, please specify if true sine-wave output is required when ordering.

Alarms:
Contact rating, 0.5A at 24VDC or 1A at 110VAC - all contacts failsafe i.e.- Normally closed and will fail to the open condition during a fault or when the unit is turned off.
  • Inverter Mode alarm (Relay Changeover contacts) - caused by the unit going into inverter backup mode.
  • Charger Fail alarm (Relay Changeover contacts) - caused by either mains failure, DC over-voltage or DC under-voltage.
  • Load Alarm (Relay Changeover contacts) - caused by earth leakage, overload or short circuit alarms.
  • Common alarm (Relay Changeover contacts) - caused by any of the above alarms.
  • Fire Test function - requires external 24VDC to simulate a mains failure.
  • Over temperature protection of the battery or the ambient temperature of the unit
